full time Technical Advisor

ເພື່ອທີ່ຈະໄປເຮັດວຽກກັບ National University Biodiversity Cooperation Project ຢູ່ທີ່ ນະຄອນຫຼວງວຽງຈັນ

Purpose: The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) has an MoU with the Government of Lao PDR to provide technical assistance to the National University of Laos to develop anddisseminate curriculum for protected area management and also to engage students and staff in applied research for wildlife and protected area management in Lao PDR.

Duties:
Work with, and provide training for, a dynamic team of national government and nongovernment staff to coordinate the activities of the National University Biodiversity

Cooperation Project, including:
 Develop and train curriculum modules for protected area management with the Faculties of Science and Forestry;
 Support the training of curriculum modules to protected area staff;
 Facilitate student research projects in Protected Area Management with the Faculties of Science and Forestry;
 Facilitate international technical and financial support for applied research in wildlife and protected area management;
 Implementation of documented procedures and processes for managing and reporting on all donor funding for the project;
 Contribute to the preparation of funding proposals for future activities of the project.
 Coordinate with the Project Supervisor and collaborators to present results at scientific meetings and to prepare peer reviewed manuscripts
 Fulfill existing grant requirements - including tracking activities and being responsible for deliverables outlined in funded proposals.


Qualifications required:
 Experienced in informal education of adults, including training, capacity-building and team building techniques;
 Evidence of ability to work with a diverse multi-cultural team;
 Work experience in project management, with an understanding of protected area management;
 Cooperative attitude, reliable, well-organized and honest;
 Ability to work effectively and achieve objectives with limited supervision;
 Applied practical and creative skills in problem solving;
 Good spoken and written English language skills; Lao language skills desirable
 Computer literacy in Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint;
 Dedication to wildlife conservation and the mission of the Wildlife Conservation Society.

The position is based in Vientiane, Lao PDR with periodic travel to work at WCS field sites.
Contractee will report directly to the Director of WCS Lao Program. Salary is competitive based on experience.
